Arab Weather - The Arab Regional Weather Center for Meteorology and Weather Forecasting said that the Kingdom is affected on Sunday by a new air depression classified as a third degree and associated with a cold air front that gradually crosses the Kingdom during the day, and the impact of the depression will be followed, God willing, by very cold polar winds of origin, causing a sharp drop on the Temperatures in most parts, and widespread freezing is forming on the roads in all regions of the Kingdom, including the main Jordanian cities, on Sunday/Monday night.
It is expected that the minimum temperatures will drop to around zero degrees Celsius or below, and the “surface” temperature will be less than that, and here the danger of freezing rain water that would have fallen earlier on the roads is highlighted, as forecasters believe in the Arab Weather Center that On Monday and Tuesday, there is an additional deepening of the impact of the cold and dry polar winds rushing from Siberia on the Kingdom, and the persistence of remarkably low temperatures in a cold, but sunny Siberian atmosphere with the occurrence of ice and freezing until the late hours of the morning.
With the continued concentration of an air high in all layers of the atmosphere throughout the west and central European continent, and in conjunction with the rush of a very cold polar air mass around this height directly towards Turkish lands, it is again expected that the Kingdom will be affected, God willing, by an air depression accompanied by a cold air front, which will result in renewed rainfall. In several regions of the Kingdom, the snow in the Eastern Badia and the Shara Mountains, and the cold polar winds of Siberian origins are rushing behind them again, to begin at that time a strong and new wave of frost and freezing in large areas of the Kingdom, including Jordanian cities and external roads, and accordingly surface temperatures drop to zero centigrade and perhaps even less, amid expectations that the impact of the cold polar winds will deepen on Thursday, God willing.
This weather takes us back to 2008, specifically during the period from January 10-20, when the Kingdom was affected by a very cold air mass that caused one of the strongest frost waves in the last twenty years, so that temperatures during that period dropped to record levels in the capital. Amman and Jordanian cities, where temperatures fell below minus 5 degrees Celsius in many cities for two days or more, including Amman, while they fell below 8 degrees Celsius in the southern and eastern desert regions such as Al-Ruwaished and Ma’an, and no precipitation was reported from That mass where the prevailing winds at that time were easterly and with weak humidity.
